Advanced ENT Appointments

Our schedules fill up fast, so please call as early as possible for the best selection of appointment times. If you are unable to keep an appointment, kindly notify us at least 24 hours in advance so that we may offer the appointment to another patient in need of care. Lab reports, X-rays, and other diagnostic reports may also be needed at the time of service. Please ask a staff member what is needed when you schedule your appointment at Advanced Ear, Nose & Throat in Denver.

We make a sincere attempt to adhere to the appointment schedule as closely as possible. We appreciate the value of your time and dislike long waiting periods. However, patients do not become ill at pre-determined times, and surgery may take longer than anticipated in some cases. Because of this, we may sometimes run behind schedule. If this happens when you are scheduled to be seen, we shall offer you the option to wait, return for a later appointment, or reschedule for another day. Your patience and understanding in these situations is greatly appreciated. We are very grateful for the sympathetic responses so many of our patients have shown under these extreme circumstances.

All patients are seen by scheduled appointment. We do make allowances for emergency referrals, but walk-ins are not encouraged and generally cannot be accomodated. We do our utmost to schedule your appointment according to your personal needs, as well as your doctor's. New patients are usually seen on specific days of the week to allow for additional examination time. Please arrange routine appointments as far in advance as possible.

If you have questions regarding surgery or need to set a date for surgery, your call will be directed to our surgery scheduler. The best time to call is Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday (until noon). During the day, surgery scheduler meets with patients who are in the office and who need to schedule surgery.

Canceling or Rescheduling Appointments
Please provide at least 24 hours notice if you must cancel or reschedule your appointment.

Your First Visit - Patient Registration
Please plan to arrive about 15 minutes early for your first visit so that we can complete
required forms. Bring your medical insurance card, driver's license or identification card, and any important medical records, including any recent CAT scan films that should be given to the doctor. Please inform us about any health problems, allergies, and medications that you are taking. Please bring all insurance information including insurance cards and, if necessary, your HMO referral. We also reregister returning patients every 6 months, or more frequently if you have new problems, or if any information should change. Your co-pay and any outstanding balance will be collected prior to seeing the physician.

After Your Visit with the Doctor
After your examination, Dr. Menachof or our PA may give you prescriptions, instructions, or other recommendations. We encourage you to ask any questions at that time. At the conclusion of your visit, the doctor will give you a charge slip for services provided that day, as well as information regarding your next appointment, if one is necessary. An appointment may be scheduled at the end of your appointment or you may choose to call to make an appointment.

Hospital Admissions and Surgery Scheduling
If Dr. Menachof or our PA recommends surgery or hospitalization, our surgery scheduler will make the arrangements for you and answer any questions you may have.

Release of Information
We treat all medical information pertaining to each patient seen in our office to be personal and confidential. It is our strict policy not to release your records, in part or in full, at any time unless we have written permission from you. This policy is enforced regardless of the circumstances. Therefore, we require a signed "Release of Information" form by every patient before we will copy any information contained within your medical chart to any third party, including but not limited to, other physicians, insurance companies, and/or an attorney. Remember, when you sign a release for an insurance company, you give them access to all information contained in our medical records unless you restrict the information to be released.

Your Satisfaction
The patient-physician relationship is unique. It implies mutual trust, openness, and responsibility. Your well-being is extremely important to us. We will always strive to maintain your confidence in us.

OFFICE POLICIES / HOURS

General and Medical Questions
First and foremost, we strive to be responsive. You are encouraged to call us with any questions or concerns you may have. For the best results, unless it is an emergency, please contact us during normal office hours when your records are readily accessible. Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:30am until 4:30pm, and Fridays from 7:30am until noon.

Our office staff has a great deal of knowledge and experience. Calls for Dr. Menachof or our PA will usually be directed to the nursing staff. Please fully explain the problem to the nurse, who will relay the message to the doctor and return the response to you. Our nurses are well-educated regarding health issues and often can provide you with the answers you need. If your question or problem is outside their scope, a message will be relayed to our doctor who will return your call as soon as possible. Please inform the telephone representative of the best time and number to reach you, or if there are times when you are unavailable.

When you call the office, the receptionist usually answers the phone. She will either schedule an appointment or channel your call to the person with whom you wish to speak. If a physician or nurse is busy with a patient, the receptionist will take your call and relay your message. Your call will be returned later in the day and sometimes this may be after office hours. Because of the many calls and limited physician time, it is impossible for us to talk with each patient. Therefore, our nurses will relay your problems to us so we may answer questions, make appropriate referrals, recommend treatment or arrange for you to be seen.

Emergency Calls
Urgent or emergency calls are accepted at all hours. In case of an emergency after hours, our answering service will answer your call and will promptly notify the physician on call, who will contact you as soon as possible. 911 should be used for life-threatening emergencies.

New Prescriptions and Refills
If you suspect Dr. Menachof may need to prescribe a medication for you, or you need an existing order filled, please call during office hours when your medical records are readily available. When calling, please have your pharmacy's phone number handy. In some cases, Dr. Menachof may wish or need to see you in the office before refilling the prescription. Prescription refill requests will only be handled during office hours when patient medical records are readily available. Only prescriptions for emergency conditions will be provided after regular office hours.

Test Results
"No news is good news" is NOT the philosophy in our office. You are an important member of your health care team and as such your responsibility is to notify our office that you have had either blood work, CT scans, biopsies or x-rays done 3 days after the event so we can then look for the results.

BILLING / PAYMENT

Payment is due at time of service unless arrangements have been made in advance or you have insurance coverage. If insured, co-pays are due at check-in. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, cash and checks. Please note: if paying by check, you understand and authorize all dishonored checks plus a processing fee with applicable taxes to be electronically debited from your account. Keep in mind that your insurance policy is basically a contract between you and your insurance company and as the patient, you are ultimately responsible for payment for services rendered. As a service to you, we file your insurance claim and the insurance company usually pays us directly. Please download our complete Financial Policy in the
forms section of the web site.
